How much does it cost to host a website?

May 25, 20172 min read

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of web hosts available. Choosing one from the crowd can be a daunting task. There are a lot of things to consider when picking which site you want to host your website with. The first thing you are most likely to consider is how much does it cost to host a website?

If we take a look at what features are available on hosting sites, and which ones you want, that will help you determine what your final cost actually will be.

Shared Servers are a low cost choice if you have a personal blog, or are just getting started. This can cost as little as $3 per month to around $10 per month depending on how you want to pay for it (by the month or by the year). The performance of your site will suffer from shared hosting. There will be a lot of other websites all competing for the shared server space.

Another option is Managed Hosting. This is optimized for lots of traffic and is a good choice for small to medium sized businesses. These plans tend to run around $50 per month.

A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a dedicated server where you have full control over the server. You can treat it like a private server. They have higher bandwidth capabilities than shared servers and won’t get bogged down because of other websites on the server. These can run anywhere from $30-$120 depending on the different features that you want. However, these are typically run by big companies with not a lot of personalized services offered.

Once you have decided which type of server you want, you also need to keep in mind all the maintenance that can go into hosting. Site maintenance can take up a lot of time. It includes tasks such as backups, upgrades, updates, security, tune-ups, checking for bad links, deleting spam, and more. This can cost up to $1500 a year! You can do this yourself cheaply and use your time, or you can subscribe to a service and save the time and spend the cash. Site maintenance can take a lot of time to deal with.

LOJO offers excellent hosting services. With four non-sense hosting packages, our packages range from $15-$100/month. Our servers are small, so that you’re not competing with others over space. And since we are also a small business, you will always have fast and reliable support when you need it. Give us a call to find out why LOJO is the perfect hosting solution for your business!

After spending several months reviewing multiple proposals from several different companies we engaged LOJO to develop a new website that represents our company effectively. We worked initially with Stephen Platte who helped create the scope of the project. Stephen was knowledgeable and always followed up with me on time and as promised.

He "closed the deal" for LOJO with his professionalism, service orientation and easy going approach. Once we signed the contract we were introduced to Jay Kelly who would be the creative lead for LOJO. This was the most challenging part of the project for my company, as there was no shortage of ideas from our side. Jay managed the project flawlessly, and once we had all agreed to the design, Jay introduced us to Eric.

Eric Lay is one of the founders of LOJO. Eric took the design we had developed and brought it to life. We delivered content as quickly as he requested it. Eric kept the project on task and we responded by exceeding every deadline for content. In turn, once provided, literally not a day went by that Eric didn't add the content and take the next step. In just a few weeks we launched our new website. Eric is a pleasure to work with.

His positive attitude and consultative approach really enhanced the experience and made a big difference for us in the outcome of our project. We would welcome you to visit our website to take a look at the quality work of LOJO. We are very pleased with LOJO and look forward to working with them in the future as we pursue an aggressive SEO strategy."
