Necessary Elements of a Great Website

September 30, 20145 min read

A business owner should always be aware of their site and fine-tune it when necessary. The simpler and user-friendlier your site is, the more sales it will generate. Always look through your site to try to identify all the clutter that needs to be removed; confusing links or visual eyesores can affect your sales. After you’ve identified the items that need to be removed, be sure to call your Sacramento Web Design team LOJO Group.

  1. A great headline – the first thing your prospective clients will see when they visit your site. A compelling headline should describe what is most important to your company, and what is the most important benefit your product or service offers.Your headline should be well written, clear and to the point. Once you have crafted the perfect headline, have your Sacramento web design team format is so that it stands out from the rest of the test. It should catch your visitor’s attention, and a great Sacramento web design team will know exactly what to do.

  1. Navigation – what makes prospective clients run and never come back? Confusing or complicated navigation.  Your clients should be able to know where they are on your site, where they are going, and where they came from. Make sure your navigation bar or menu is accessible and easy to understand. It should look exactly the same on every page of your website and it should be in the same place on every page. If you find yourself losing clients because of a confusing navigation, contact your Sacramento web design team.

  2. Describing your merchandise or service – the words you use to describe the product you sell or service you provide is very important. This is the only contact you’ll have with the majority of your site’s visitors, follow these simple rules for writing merchandise and service description:

    1. Write content that immediately draws the reader in with exciting benefits.

    2. Establish credibility as an expert of the product or service you are providing. People won’t buy from you unless they feel like they can trust you.

    3. Describe the benefits of your product or service and explain why your visitors cannot live without it.

  3. A clear “Call to Action” element – a call to action element on your site allows visitors to quickly understand how to buy from your site. If you want people to buy your product or service, the best way to do it is with this type of element. Explain to them exactly what you want them to do, and it will be easier for them to do it. If you want a call to action element on your site, talk to your Sacramento web design team, they may be able to help you come up with the right design and place to include it on your site.

  4. Choose the right images – images can help people visualize your products or services and how it will benefit them. Include attractive, well-lit and clear pictures of every product you sell. If you have more items for sale, use thumbnails that link to larger images. This allows your pages to load quicker.  If you sell items such as e books or software, create product shots that will represent them. This makes your product more tangible to your visitors.

  5. Opt-in offers – most prospective clients don’t tend to make a purchase on the first visit to your site. However, the fact that they are even on your site means that they are curious. In order to turn that visit into a purchase, you should collect their email addresses by encouraging them to subscribe to a newsletter. This gives you the chance to send them updates and information and develop relationships with them. Work with your Sacramento web design team to include your opt in offer in every page of your site; make sure it is clear and catches your visitor’s attention.

  6. Testimonials – the best way to establish credibility and gain your client’s trust is by providing evidence that your product or service really works. The best way to do it is by including testimonials on your site. Be sure to include the names of your customers as well as their location and even a small picture of them beside their testimonial. This will personalize their messages, add credibility and demonstrate that they are real people. We recommend talking to your Sacramento web design team about having a few testimonials featured on your homepage; however, you should also have a separate page dedicated to client testimonials.

  7. “About Us” page – adding a personal touch will make the client feel more confident in doing business online. The best way to do this is by adding an “About Us” page that provides information about you, your staff and your business. Be sure to include pictures of you and your crew, as this shows clients that they’re doing business with real people.

  8. FAQ Page – it’s a good idea to include an FAQ page on your site. This is where you can list questions about your product or service that are commonly asked by your clients and provide questions to them. It allows visitors immediate access to the answers.

  9. Your contact information – provide your contact information in order to establish credibility with your visitors. Include your headquarters phone number, fax and phone number, and email. Make sure your contact information is easy to find. Work with your Sacramento web design team to help you place it in the right place for your visitors to see.

After spending several months reviewing multiple proposals from several different companies we engaged LOJO to develop a new website that represents our company effectively. We worked initially with Stephen Platte who helped create the scope of the project. Stephen was knowledgeable and always followed up with me on time and as promised.

He "closed the deal" for LOJO with his professionalism, service orientation and easy going approach. Once we signed the contract we were introduced to Jay Kelly who would be the creative lead for LOJO. This was the most challenging part of the project for my company, as there was no shortage of ideas from our side. Jay managed the project flawlessly, and once we had all agreed to the design, Jay introduced us to Eric.

Eric Lay is one of the founders of LOJO. Eric took the design we had developed and brought it to life. We delivered content as quickly as he requested it. Eric kept the project on task and we responded by exceeding every deadline for content. In turn, once provided, literally not a day went by that Eric didn't add the content and take the next step. In just a few weeks we launched our new website. Eric is a pleasure to work with.

His positive attitude and consultative approach really enhanced the experience and made a big difference for us in the outcome of our project. We would welcome you to visit our website to take a look at the quality work of LOJO. We are very pleased with LOJO and look forward to working with them in the future as we pursue an aggressive SEO strategy."
