Why Should I Use WordPress For My Business Website?

Why Should I Use WordPress For My Business Website?

September 18, 20194 min read

If you’re a business owner, you probably already know that having a website is now a necessity. Having a website certainly allows new customers to find you online, but what’s the big deal with WordPress?

You might be thinking, “with all other platforms I can use like Wix, Squarespace, or even social networks like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, why should I use WordPress for my business website?”

For starters, WordPress works with just about any kind and any size of business. WordPress is highly customizable, easily scalable, and has a thriving community of active users, developers, and enthusiasts all over the world.

Sure, there are a good number of web creation services out there that make it easy for you to start a website but building your own self-hosted WordPress site gives you total control over how you want your site to look and what it can do.

In fact, almost 30% of all the world’s websites are built on WordPress. With a load of powerful options available, you can use WordPress to make a beautiful website, a personal blog, or even a mobile app should you choose to do so. Let’s dive right in to six reasons why you should be using WordPress for your business.

  1. The Vanilla Version is Free

As long as you have a domain and a hosting account, setting up a self-hosted WordPress site doesn’t cost you anything, which makes it very appealing for startups, small businesses, and just about anyone who’d like to give WordPress a try.

  1. WordPress is Open Source

All you have to do is download WordPress once and install it onto your hosting account. You can use it without any restrictions, build it however you like, and keep it up for as long as your business is in existence.

You want to run ads on your site? You can do that. You want to change the way your site looks? You can do that too.

  1. WordPress is Constantly Evolving

From its humble beginnings as a blogging platform in 2003, WordPress has indeed come a long way. Some of the first wave of blogs that came out in the mid-2000s have grown to be successful businesses, media companies, social entrepreneurship projects, and online communities.

Fast forward to today and several versions later, a new WordPress site can be tailor-made to be just about any kind of web page you like, be that ecommerce, online learning, community-building, or social network.

  1. It’s More Search-Friendly

As search engine algorithms become more sophisticated, WordPress responds in kind. The default version is a lot more search-engine friendly than other sites made with other CMS’s.

You can further boost your site optimization with a mix (of free and paid) plugins to make your site runs faster, and is more architecturally sound, more easily shared on social media, and have an overall better user experience.

  1. You’re Part of a Growing Community of WordPress Site Owners

Here’s further proof that WordPress is not just a blogging platform anymore: while the vast majority of WordPress sites are either for small businesses or personal use, you do have a growing community of big-brand WordPress websites which include:

  • The Walt Disney Company

  • The Microsoft News Center

  • Time, Inc.

  • The New York Times

  • BBC America

  • Sony Music

  • Samsung

  • Sweden’s Official Website

  • Marks & Spencer for Business

  • Forbes

  • Mercedes-Benz

Even big-name celebrities like Beyonce, The Rolling Stones, Ariana Grande, Jay-Z, and Katy Perry are already on WordPress.

Add to this almost half (44.8%) of universities, colleges, and schools around the world, as well as thousands of official government websites and you end up with a truly diverse, multi-functional site building platform.

  1. It Has an Active Community of Developers

As WordPress is a free, open-source content management platform, there are literally thousands of passionate developers all around the world working together to make WordPress what it is today.

As such, WordPress is (still very much) easy to install, easy to use, secure, search-friendly, and extremely customizable. This same active community of international volunteers is quite possibly one of WordPress’s most formidable assets.

Conclusion

WordPress is quite possibly the best content management system and publishing platform available for your business website.

With millions of WordPress users around the world, you’ll find no shortage of support, tools, or resources to help you build a great website for your business. You also have a wide variety of plugins and themes available to further customize and extend the functionality of your site.

With WordPress, you have a site that is not just flexible, customizable, easy to update and easy to maintain, but is more importantly under your complete control.

After spending several months reviewing multiple proposals from several different companies we engaged LOJO to develop a new website that represents our company effectively. We worked initially with Stephen Platte who helped create the scope of the project. Stephen was knowledgeable and always followed up with me on time and as promised.

He "closed the deal" for LOJO with his professionalism, service orientation and easy going approach. Once we signed the contract we were introduced to Jay Kelly who would be the creative lead for LOJO. This was the most challenging part of the project for my company, as there was no shortage of ideas from our side. Jay managed the project flawlessly, and once we had all agreed to the design, Jay introduced us to Eric.

Eric Lay is one of the founders of LOJO. Eric took the design we had developed and brought it to life. We delivered content as quickly as he requested it. Eric kept the project on task and we responded by exceeding every deadline for content. In turn, once provided, literally not a day went by that Eric didn't add the content and take the next step. In just a few weeks we launched our new website. Eric is a pleasure to work with.

His positive attitude and consultative approach really enhanced the experience and made a big difference for us in the outcome of our project. We would welcome you to visit our website to take a look at the quality work of LOJO. We are very pleased with LOJO and look forward to working with them in the future as we pursue an aggressive SEO strategy."

The team at LOJO were wonderful to work with. They are well organized and very patient as we worked through our marketing strategy and developed a well thought out and clear action plan at a reasonable price. We will definitely be back for our future campaign needs."
