What Entails a Good Logo Design?

May 02, 20173 min read

The Logo that you pick for your company is probably one of the most important decisions that you will ever make. A company’s Logo is how people recognize the business, and helps to express how that company is different from their rivals.

Your Logo is the silent sales force for your company.

A logo is a simple and functional signpost to help people find and identify your business, but for a logo to be successful, the company behind it must be a respected and trusted brand.

When deciding what you want your logo to look like, here are a few things to think about:

Your logo creates your image: Your Logo is typically the first thing that people will see when being introduced to your product, or your company. You want it to be something that stands out and is remembered. It needs to be something that is memorable and easy to pick out amongst all the other logos out there.

Your logo solidifies consumer loyalty: If consumers like your product, they will promote your brand. And what is the biggest way that consumers promote a brand? By showing off the Logo. If you take Nike, as an example, you see the infamous Swoosh everywhere! It’s on shoes, jackets, backpacks and more! You can easily tell the consumer loyalty when you see that swoosh all over the place.

Your logo is your most powerful marketing tool: It can also be the cheapest! Once your logo is recognizable, to advertise your brand all it takes is simple logo placement! A good logo, a good trademark, gains meaning and power over time. How often do you catch a logo that you recognize out of the corner of your eye and you know exactly what it is?

A very important aspect in Logo design is picking the right color! Did you ever think about how color could make a difference in your logo? Lets break it down by each color and see how it affects the consumer:

Red: Red is associated with the intensity of blood and fire. When consumers see Red in a logo they are more likely to feel Active, Emotional, Passionate, Love, Trust, Intensity and Aggressiveness.

Blue: Blue is associated with the depth and stability of sky and sea. When consumers see Blue they are more likely to feel Comfort, Faith, Conservative, Understanding, Clarity, Confident, Calm and Trust.

Yellow: Yellow is associated with the energy and joy of sunshine. When consumers see Yellow they are more likely to feel Joy, Alive, Energetic and Fresh.

Green: Green is associated with the harmony of nature. When consumers see Green they are more likely to feel Calm, Relaxed, Trust, Peaceful and Hopeful.

Purple: Purple is associated with the luxury of royalty. When consumers see Purple they are more likely to feel Glamour, Power, Nostalgic, Romantic and Introspective.

Orange: Orange is associated with the happiness of sunshine and the tropics. When consumers see Orange they are more likely to feel Enthusiastic, Creative, Determined and have Stimulated Mental Activity.

Black: Black is associated with formality and mystery of night. When consumers see Black they are more likely to feel Bold, Serious and Luxurious.

Pink: Pink is associated with feminine traits. When consumers see Pink they are more likely to feel Love, Sweet, Warmth, Sexuality and Nurtured.

Brown: Brown is associated with the nurturing trait of Mother Earth. When consumer see Brown they are more likely to feel Reliability, Support and Dependability.

Your logo is the most important part of your branding and a very important part of your image as a business. To make sure you get it right, hiring a local web design company is the best way to go. After spending several months reviewing multiple proposals from several different companies we engaged LOJO to develop a new website that represents our company effectively. We worked initially with Stephen Platte who helped create the scope of the project. Stephen was knowledgeable and always followed up with me on time and as promised.

He "closed the deal" for LOJO with his professionalism, service orientation and easy going approach. Once we signed the contract we were introduced to Jay Kelly who would be the creative lead for LOJO. This was the most challenging part of the project for my company, as there was no shortage of ideas from our side. Jay managed the project flawlessly, and once we had all agreed to the design, Jay introduced us to Eric.

Eric Lay is one of the founders of LOJO. Eric took the design we had developed and brought it to life. We delivered content as quickly as he requested it. Eric kept the project on task and we responded by exceeding every deadline for content. In turn, once provided, literally not a day went by that Eric didn't add the content and take the next step. In just a few weeks we launched our new website. Eric is a pleasure to work with.

His positive attitude and consultative approach really enhanced the experience and made a big difference for us in the outcome of our project. We would welcome you to visit our website to take a look at the quality work of LOJO. We are very pleased with LOJO and look forward to working with them in the future as we pursue an aggressive SEO strategy."
